Anesthesiology and Reanimation

Anesthesia is characterized by the medications administrated with such aims of feeling no pain during the surgery, inhibition of voluntary-involuntary movement, amnesia for the surgery performed.

In the Department of Anesthesiology and Reanimation, the service is provided for 7/27 with an expert team. In our clinic, our anesthetists determined the anesthesia method which is the most appropriate for the patient and the operation to be performed by evaluating the patient condition before the surgery. Thus, comfort and safe of the patients are ensured during the surgery. For this purpose, it relieves the pain, protects the temperature, recovers the body fluid loss and controls the vital functions such as heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory and renal functions. Besides, required precautions are taken for the post-operative pain management.

The anesthetists are a part of team which makes the operation. Therefore, surgeons, anesthetists, surgical nurses, anesthesia technicians and operating room personnel perform their duties within the scope of a regular teamwork.

Anesthetic procedures performed by the hospital

General Anesthesia: the patient losses his consciousness temporarily under the general anesthesia. In contradistinction to sleep, this is a transitory unconsciousness state achieved by the medications under the control of anesthetist. The sleep duration of patient is determined according the operation duration. The patient awakes following the termination of effects of the anesthetic medications.

Regional Anesthesia: The regional anesthesia is defined by the anaesthetization of the area to be operated with the loss of consciousness. The regional anesthesia can be applied to the operation area or greater nerves in this area; in some methods the injection is applied to the lower back of patients (spinal, epidural anesthesia). While the patient is aware of the operation made, he does not feel the pain. The numbness sensation disappears in a time varying according to the medications used.

Local Anesthesia: It is defined by the anaesthetization of only a small area. It is utilized in short-term operations.
